Rattlesnake Point
An exquisite and unique block of Wet Tropics rainforest adjoining the World Heritage listed Cedar Bay National Park on two sides. The property has been in the family since 1974 and was listed as a nature reserve in 2009. There are no clearings on the property but allowance for a 5 hectare relocatable domestic zone for a house or Eco-tourism lodge subject to approvals.
There are several seasonal tributaries to Fritz Creek and a permanent spring is located in the north west corner of the block. Access is from the paved Rossville-Bloomfield road via a bush track through national park and through the adjoining freehold properties to the west. A gazetted road runs along the southern boundary of the property although is undeveloped. The Eastern Kuku Yalanji people have a restricted access to the area to protect cultural resources around Rattlesnake Point itself.
This property is a world heritage ecosystem and needs the ongoing stewardship of owners who can honour those values.
