The Position

Queensland Trust for Nature (QTFN) is seeking an outstanding, values-driven CEO to build on QTFN’s portfolio of innovative projects and partnerships.  This is a rare opportunity to be a leader in the expanding field of private land conservation at an important time globally.

Reporting to the Board, QTFN’s Chief Executive must be a contemporary thinker able to steer the organisation through ongoing development of conservation-focused business models while also providing leadership and driving performance across a small multidisciplinary team.  This is an opportunity to work in the expanding area of private land conservation, building on QTFN’s portfolio of innovative projects and excellent relationships.

The Chief Executive has top line responsibility for achieving organisational objectives and ensuring QTFN’s continued success.  The role requires enthusiasm to tackle large scale challenges as well as well refined skills in building and maintaining collaborative relationships and networks across multiple sectors.

You will be an experienced influential leader with cross sector confidence and strong decision-making capability. You will have a track record in managing multi-faceted organisations and working with Boards. To succeed in the role you will need long term vision and the confidence to bring new ideas and innovations to the table.

You’ll bring a passion for the natural environment, an innovative spirit matched with strong commercial acumen. QTFN is an independent not-for-profit however NFP experience is not essential.  An understanding of property law, environmental markets, natural capital and financial concepts, CSR and project management will be an advantage.

The Organisation

Queensland Trust for Nature (QTFN) is an independent not-for-profit organisation that works with private landholders as well as educators, business and government to initiate, develop and demonstrate scalable environmental projects on private land.  As well as working directly with a variety of landowners, QTFN owns and actively manages several properties, including a cattle station, a koala sanctuary and an island in the Southern Great Barrier Reef.

About you

✶ You have at least 5 years’ executive experience including demonstrated experience managing Boards and ensuring excellent organisational governance.
✶ You can demonstrate successful relationship development across many industries, agencies, and strategic partners.
✶ You have exceptional commercial skills, with experience in complex negotiations and contracting, operational management, budgeting and financial reporting.
✶ You have a track record of developing and delivering strategic and business plans with measurable outcomes.
✶ You have managed successful teams and high-value, multi-faceted projects with cross-sector participants.
✶ You have astute leadership, team building, mentoring, motivation and staff engagement skills.

Attractive salary on offer between $150k and $170k, depending on experience.
