Hosting NBRUC at Aroona
There’s real value when you look on-ground and ask honest questions about what environmental markets in action really takes, sharing with a group of graziers, researchers, policy makers and knowledge brokers.
On 13 March, QTFN opened the gates of Aroona Station to attendees of the Northern Beef Research Update Conference.
We had some insightful discussions (coming from honest responses to great questions) on the opportunities and the challenges we face.
The aim was to show how QTFN is working to balance our conservation targets with our property’s agribusiness – balancing beef and biodiversity. We demonstrated how environmental markets can fund restoration on a working farm and the strict requirements that must be managed to meet the biodiversity targets.
The conference theme was “From Research to Results: Driving Paddock Performance”, which was timely given the recent release of the Examination of Research and Development final report – Ambitious Australia.
We also launched our inaugural Nature report, following the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework, on the agribusiness component of Aroona’s land management.
The day provided an opportunity for us to share our passion for field testing new ag and enviro tech, and the vision of having Aroona Station as a demonstration and education site – less than 90 minutes from Brisbane CBD.
Please reach out if you would like to test your tech or if you want to help us build facilities to support more education events on Aroona.
