TNFD Nature Report release
Queensland Trust for Nature (QTFN) is pleased to release its inaugural Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosure (TNFD) Report for Aroona Station, marking an important step in strengthening transparency around how nature-related considerations are embedded into our decision-making, land management and long-term strategy.
This report applies the TNFD framework to Aroona Station, QTFN’s working cattle property, to better understand and disclose our dependencies on nature, our impacts, and the nature-related risks and opportunities associated with agricultural production alongside conservation. The report focuses specifically on QTFN’s agribusiness operations, reflecting the area where our interactions with nature are most direct, measurable and material at this stage. This targeted scope allows for a credible, practical and place-based assessment, while laying the groundwork for broader application over time.
As with all first reports of this kind, this disclosure represents a point-in-time assessment. It is intended to provide relevant information to support informed decision-making today, while also establishing a baseline to guide future reporting, data improvement and deeper analysis. QTFN recognises that the TNFD framework is evolving, and that continuous improvement will be essential as our understanding, data and systems mature.
QTFN is proud to be an early adopter of the TNFD framework and among the early examples of its application within a farming and agribusiness context in Australia. Through this report, QTFN aims not only to enhance its own governance and resilience, but also to contribute practical insights that may support others navigating the integration of nature, agriculture and investment.
QTFN sincerely thanks all those who contributed to the development of this report, including Dr John Rochecouste, QTFN staff, advisors, and stakeholders who shared their expertise and insights. Special acknowledgement is given to the BDO Sustainability team, led by Partner Brett Spicer, who were engaged to produce the report and whose technical expertise and guidance were instrumental in delivering this inaugural disclosure.
This report represents the beginning of an ongoing journey. QTFN looks forward to building on this foundation through future TNFD disclosures that further strengthen the integration of nature-positive outcomes into our operations and strategy.

“This report is an important first step for QTFN. Applying the TNFD framework to a working cattle property allows us to better understand how our agribusiness depends on, impacts and can strengthen nature over time. As a first report, it is a snapshot in time, but it gives us a strong foundation to make better decisions and continuously improve how we manage land, risk and opportunity. We’re proud to be an early adopter of TNFD in a farming context and grateful to BDO and our team for helping bring this report together.” – CEO Dr Liz O’Brien

The right kind of fire: building our landscapes’ resilience
Feathery-soft cool ash sits in my palm, disintegrating as it falls through my fingers. It was part of the lantana (Lantana camara) on fire not long ago, but now as it returns to the ground it will become a cover for regenerating species. Around me, a haze rises through the canopy, thin, pale clouds that […]
New plantings will help form a continuous habitat corridor from the creek to the ridges
Great to see the final plantings for round 2 of our Koala Habitat Restoration Partnership Program (KHRPP) in the ground! In the first photo you can see the new plantings in the foreground, previous KHRPP revegetation in the middle, and Queensland Blue Gum regional ecosystems 12.3.7 and the endangered 12.3.3. in the back. This picture, […]
Hosting NBRUC at Aroona
There’s real value when you look on-ground and ask honest questions about what environmental markets in action really takes, sharing with a group of graziers, researchers, policy makers and knowledge brokers. On 13 March, QTFN opened the gates of Aroona Station to attendees of the Northern Beef Research Update Conference. We had some insightful discussions […]
